My name is Michelle R. Theberge; I am a family lawyer, a business lawyer and a member of the Law Society of Ontario. I was called to the bar in 2005 and have practiced law in Toronto for over a decade. Property Division

By combining my experience in dealing with business disputes with my experience in divorce law, the focus of my practice has evolved into primarily assisting individuals who own businesses, have business interests and/or who have high net worth. When dealing with these types of situations, I offer the following services:

• Obtaining professional valuations concerning business interests and real estate (including commercial buildings and farm properties) so that a spouse’s net family property and income are properly determined for the purposes of property division and entitlement to spousal support;
• Developing a plan to sever business relationships between spouses who are separating or divorcing; and
• Assisting a spouse to obtain proper disclosure where the other spouse is self-employed and hiding income or assets.

Litigation

There are situations where aggressive advocacy is required and I am more than willing to go to court when necessary. As an experienced litigator, I have successfully represented numerous clients in the Superior Court of Justice, the B.C. Supreme Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal. Read on.
